Linxira OS is built directly on Arch Linux and incorporates multiple upstream open source projects. Linxira OS is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Arch Linux.

Linxira OS Own Licenses

Code & Configuration

Custom code, configuration files, and build scripts are licensed under GPL-3.0.

Documentation & Website

Documentation, Wiki, and website content are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Brand Assets

Logos, wallpapers, icons, and other brand assets are reserved Linxira property and are not offered under a general public license. See the Brand Assets Policy.

Upstream Licenses

Each upstream component remains governed by its own license. Distribution together in Linxira OS does not place the entire operating-system aggregation under one license. Key upstream components include:

GPL Copyleft Explanation

The GNU General Public License (GPL) applies to covered programs and derivative works of those programs. Merely aggregating GPL-licensed packages with separately licensed software in a distribution does not require every package or the distribution as a whole to use the GPL.

Impact on Linxira OS:

Linxira-owned code identified as GPL-3.0 is distributed under that license
Users running Linxira OS locally are not subject to copyleft restrictions
Users creating derivative distributions must comply with upstream licenses
User customizations and scripts are not subject to copyleft (unless they include GPL code)

Non-Free Components

Linxira OS may include the following non-free components:

Firmware: Some hardware requires proprietary firmware
GPU Drivers: NVIDIA drivers are proprietary
User-Optional: VS Code, Chrome, etc. are proprietary

These components are user-installed by choice; Linxira OS does not mandate non-free software.
